Last week, the incomparable Jessica Therrien announced the release date for the second book in her Children of the Gods series, and this week we've decided to bring the news here as well. For those who have been keeping tabs on the series, the first book, Oppression, was released this past February to considerable acclaim. The story of a girl much older than she appears who discovers that she is one of many descendants of the real Greek gods quickly became a teen bestseller at BN.com. Still one of our bestselling titles, it's not hard to see why. The story appeals to fans of Twilight, The Hunger Games, X-Men, and classical Greek epics. What's not to love?
Of course, the book ended on just the weeniest bit of a cliffhanger (we'll not spoil the first one here, just in case there's one of you left who hasn't read it), so we're all highly anticipating book two. Which...will be released February 19th, 2013 - barring an attack by oppressive polytheistic deities - and which will be titled: Uprising.
Now if that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will. More details on the story, the cover, and the release will appear in the coming months, but in the meantime, perhaps it would be appropriate to brush up on your Greek mythology.
